YUYU RAU
Mindful Movement, Creative Dance & Devising Theatre facilitator

Yuyu Rau is a trauma-informed, inclusive-practice trained movement facilitator with over 20 years of experience in dance, theatre, and community practice. Her work integrates somatic approaches with creative exploration, offering participants a space to reconnect with their bodies, emotions, and imagination.

She recently completed REACH, a health and arts training programme by Performing Medicine in Greenwich, where she further developed her mindful movement research that began during her MA in Theatre for Community and Education at Mountview (Distinction, 2022). Rooted in both academic inquiry and lived experience, Yuyu’s practice bridges body and mind while centring connection, creativity, and care.

Yuyu specialises in mindful movement, creative dance & devising theatre workshops designed for diverse communities. Each session is tailored to the group’s needs—whether fostering team spirit, building confidence and self-awareness, supporting physical and emotional well-being, or unlocking inner creativity. Her participant-centred approach draws on mindful practice, somatic movement, and collaborative devising to help people articulate experiences that are often overlooked or unheard.

She believes true transformation begins within, and that profound change arises when we listen deeply to our bodies and respond authentically to what we find there.

Yuyu has facilitated and collaborated with a wide range of communities and organisations, including Creating Ground, Sesame (ex End Violence and Racism), St. Mary Ward, Siobhan Davies Studios, Mountview, Peckham Harris Academy, New Earth Theatre, Protein Dance, Hampshire Cultural Trust, Woolich Works and Cloud Gate Dance Theatre School to name a few.
